Dale Childs

Dale Noble Childs of Hartford, MI. Born in Chicago, IL on January 24, 1938 passed away on March 12, 2024.

His survivors include: 

Amy Munjoy, his life partner of 37 years.

Children: Mona (Mike) Goatley, Roxanne Childs, Corrina (Brian) Sheridan, Stacy Munjoy and Nephew Guy Landerville . 

Grandchildren: Anthony Nazzaro, Joseph Matens, Dominick Morrison, Heidi Morrison, David Morrison, Micah Sheridan, Emma Sheridan, Lydia Sheridan, Isaac Sheridan 

Special Friends; Andrew Leach who has been like a son and Linda Podlin, the mother of his daughters and a lifetime friend.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; Claude Childs, Ruth Edna Childs (Balmer) and a sister Claudia Moor (Childs)

Dale resided in Chicago, IL until moving to Hartford at the age of 9 with his family. He graduated from Hartford High school in 1956. He has remained friends with many of his classmates throughout his lifetime.

He was in the Marine Corp from Jan 15, 1957 to Jan 15,1960 of which he was proud of. OORAH!

Dale operated a car lot in Benton Harbor in his early years of business. He later purchased property in Hartford from his father where he owned and operated a car sales lot that became an automotive scrap yard and recycling center for over 50 years. He retired in 2012 when selling his scrap yard. He still regularly sorted his lifetime accumulation of scrap into retirement.

In his younger years he enjoyed trapping along the banks of local waters. Later, He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and traveling to every state in the US and most every province in Canada.

Dale lived his life on his own terms and had few regrets!
